"We had lots of various Facebook accounts for boards and committees… it was kind of the Wild West," Andrews said, describing an effort to consolidate posts to a smaller set of county-managed accounts and the Engage page. She proposed that FAC members send items and photos to county communications for posting to the main Facebook account or Engage hub rather than creating a separate FAC page, and offered to act as the county’s liaison for FAC posts.
Andrews showed metrics indicating follower growth after consolidation (a 91% increase in the first year after consolidating content) and cited a model where an active committee (a noxious weeds group) sends a post and the county amplifies it to better reach the public. FAC members agreed that sharing items through the county account will preserve continuity when committee membership changes.
