Assistant City Administrator Leslie Harris described the award’s history and read past recipients dating to 2015. The commission noted that the award recognizes businesses and community members who support arts programming, student engagement and local cultural life. Harris said the Arts Commission decided to recognize two recipients this year; family members and business representatives accepted plaques that will be displayed at the GMC.
Ben Franklin Craft and Frame Shop was cited for being a family-owned business and arts supporter since 1986, hosting classes and assisting the local schools with art shows. The council thanked the Arts Commission and those who accepted the awards.
Next steps: The plaque for the award will be displayed at the GMC and the Arts Commission will continue outreach for future nominees.
