Bellingham council unanimously confirms Bridget Brick as special counsel to Civil Service Commission

City Attorney Alan Mariner told the committee that a 2023 amendment to the Bellingham Municipal Code (BMC 3.16 0.04) requires the Civil Service Commission to be represented by outside counsel. Mariner said the previous outside counsel had relocated overseas, creating the need to appoint a new outside attorney. The chair said Brick is with the Carmichael Clark law firm of Bellingham and has experience in municipal law, labor and employment matters, and advising municipal clients on appeals.
The chair acknowledged that Brick was present in the chamber and congratulated her on the appointment.
There was no further discussion and no recorded oppositions or abstentions.
The committee moved on to other business after completing the confirmation.
