Annalise Burns, Habitat and Restoration Manager in Public Works Natural Resources, said the property acquisition would support fish‑passage improvements associated with a crossing at Meridian Street and would complement ongoing restoration and culvert‑replacement work. “This is a fantastic opportunity,” Burns said.
Council member Lisa moved approval of agenda item 24899, which authorizes staff to submit the grant application. Chair Littlequist called for a voice vote; the committee responded “aye” and the chair said she would bring a positive recommendation forward to the full council.
Staff told the committee the grant request is intended to fund property acquisition that would enable future fish‑passage work; procedural details about the application and any conditions would be set if the grant is awarded. The committee did not cite any opposition or conditions when it voted to recommend approval.
