Goodview council approves levy request, business aid, hire, licenses and fireworks street closures

The Goodview City Council on July 21, 2025, moved through a set of routine but material actions by unanimous roll-call votes.
Resolution No. 1282: The council approved a levy request submitted by the Goodview Economic Development Authority for taxes payable in 2026. Councilmember Dick Ledebuhr moved the resolution and Councilmember Charlie Andring seconded; the record indicates all present councilmembers voted aye.
Business Assistance: The council approved a Business Assistance and Improvement Program application from Rocco’s. Councilmember Dick Ledebuhr moved approval and Councilmember Charlie Andring seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Public event street closures: The Goodview Activity Group requested street closures for fireworks on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025. The council approved the request. Councilmember Ledebuhr moved and Councilmember Sandra Ramirez seconded the motion; all voted aye.
Licenses and permits: The council approved a drainlayers license application from Weiser Septic and Excavating. Councilmember Charlie Andring moved and Councilmember Cassandra Gilliam seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Lease extension: The council approved a second extension of a commercial lease between the City of Goodview and Jen Laturno for the period beginning Sept. 30, 2025, and ending Dec. 31, 2025. Councilmember Ledebuhr moved and Councilmember Andring seconded; all voted aye.
Personnel: The consent agenda included hiring Grace Baab as a Firefighter and First Responder, effective July 22, 2025, with a 12-month probation period; that action passed as part of the consent agenda.
Financials and reports: The council reviewed fund balances and claims for July (Grand Total $249,114.39). Director of Public Works Dave Schultz reported Lake LaCanne water tests came back clear. Councilmember Charlie Andring asked staff to contact two property owners about Burning Nettle plants observed along 6th Street.
The meeting adjourned at 5:26 p.m.; the minutes report all votes as unanimous unless otherwise noted. The council's next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 4, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Goodview City Hall.
