Acting Mayor Charlie Andring presided over the Feb. 10, 2025, meeting where the council continued review of draft #2 of the city’s proposed zoning ordinance revisions related to cannabis businesses. City Administrator Dan Matejka reported that the City Attorney had provided clarifications, primarily on the definitions section, that answered most of the council’s outstanding questions.
The discussion centered on definition and zoning criteria the council had requested after the first reading at the prior meeting. According to Matejka, the attorney’s responses clarified ambiguous language, and the council identified a set of desired edits to be sent back to the attorney for incorporation. Matejka said he will forward the council’s requested changes and asked the attorney to prepare a final draft for the council’s meeting on March 3, 2025, when a public hearing will be held and the council may act depending on whether additional revisions are needed.
The matter remains in the ordinance-review stage rather than at final adoption. No formal vote on the ordinance was taken at the Feb. 10 meeting. The council did not direct immediate regulatory changes; rather, members used the session to resolve definitional issues and set the schedule for further public engagement. The item is scheduled for follow-up at the March 3 meeting at Goodview City Hall.
