Councilmember seeks levy impact figures as Truth-in-Taxation review continues

During review of Truth-in-Taxation materials, Councilmember Richard Ledebuhr asked staff to show how the final levy would change if a proposed police squad or an additional full-time officer were removed from the draft budget; staff will provide the numbers at the Dec. 15 council meeting ahead of a Dec. 29 levy deadline.
City Administrator Dan Matejka reviewed spreadsheets and graphs related to the Truth-in-Taxation portion of the meeting on Dec. 1 and answered council questions about the proposed levy and budget items.
Councilmember Richard Ledebuhr said he has reservations about both creating a new squad for the Police Department and funding an additional full-time police officer. He asked staff to show what the final levy would be if either, or both, of those items were removed from the proposed budget.
Matejka said he would provide those levy-impact figures at the council's next meeting on Dec. 15, 2025. He also reminded councilmembers that the city must set its final levy by Dec. 29, 2025.
The request does not constitute final action; it directs staff to produce updated levy scenarios for council consideration before the levy deadline.
