The Goodview City Council voted 3–1 on Dec. 1 to approve a draft "call for proposals" to solicit buyers or operators for a bar property in town after the current renter told council members she did not want to be a participant in any ownership arrangement.
City Administrator Dan Matejka told the council he, Mayor Ben Klinger and Councilmember Charlie Andring met with the current renter, Jen Laturno, and that Laturno "reiterated she doesn’t want to be a player anymore in the potential ownership of the property." Matejka said multiple parties have expressed interest in purchasing the property to continue operating it as a bar.
Councilmember Andring moved to approve the call for proposals and Councilmember Sandra Ramirez seconded. The motion passed three to one, with Councilmember Richard Ledebuhr voting nay.
The vote authorizes staff to publish the solicitation and begin a process to evaluate prospective buyers or operators according to the draft language the council reviewed. The council did not identify a timeline for selecting an operator during the meeting.
Next steps, as described by Matejka at the meeting, include issuing the call for proposals and returning to council with responses and a recommended path forward.
The council took no other formal action on the property at the Dec. 1 meeting.
