Goodview council approves ladder-truck purchase, hires first responder and OKs off-site gambling permit

Unfinished-business action: Councilmember Cassandra Gilliam moved and Councilmember Dick Ledebuhr seconded approval of a purchase agreement with MacQueen for the 2017 Pierce Velocity 105' ladder truck; the motion carried with all present voting aye.
Personnel and routine approvals: The consent agenda — which passed unanimously among members present — included approval of the current Fire Department and First Responder rosters as of June 16, 2025 and the hiring of Cierra Janikowski as a First Responder effective June 17, 2025. Fire Chief Matt Kramer noted that, per the city attorney, each new fire-department or first-responder hire will be presented to the council for formal approval.
Other actions: The council approved the draft Q3 newsletter as presented and granted an off-site gambling permit to the Goodview Activity Group for lawful gambling at Goodview Park Pavilion via Resolution No. 1281; both motions carried with all present voting aye.
Procedural note: City Administrator Dan Matejka told the council the auditors could not attend the June 16 meeting and will present the 2024 audit at the July 7, 2025 meeting. The meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
