Solano County board adopts several recognition resolutions and appoints Emery Cohen as health director

The proclamations were read by supervisors and accompanied by brief presentations: Gwendolyn Gill (Health Services Administrator) and IHSS advisory members spoke about home-care services; child-welfare and permanency staff highlighted recent adoption finalizations (52 finalized in 2023; 37 finalized so far this program year with 13 pending) and introduced adoption-unit staff; representatives of the Yosidihi/Patwin Wintun nation delivered remarks and the county noted tribal partnerships and lobby displays.
Appointments: After a brief recess and closed session on a public-employee appointment (Gov. Code sec. 54957(a)), the board reported it had selected Emery Cohen as the county's next Director of Health and Social Services; the selection was announced on the record as a 4-1 vote.
