Goodview council approves pumper truck purchase, tables ladder truck amid bond-financing concerns

The Goodview City Council on June 2 approved a purchase agreement with MacQueen for a Pierce Saber pumper truck and tabled action on a 2017 Pierce Velocity 105' ladder truck that remains pending inspection.
Council approved the pumper purchase by a 4–1 vote after debate about how the City will pay for the apparatus. Councilmember Dick Ledebuhr said he did not feel comfortable with the truck purchase at this time. City Administrator Dan Matejka told the Council the Financial Planning Model the City adopted in April accounts for the pumper and the ladder truck and shows financing through issuance of bonds.
The ladder-truck purchase agreement with MacQueen was tabled because MacQueen could not bring the ladder truck to Goodview for inspection by the fire department and mechanic; the Council postponed that decision to the June 16, 2025 meeting. The pumper approval passed 4–1 with Ledebuhr voting nay and the remaining members voting in favor.
