Grafton council approves special assessments and rezones Dakota Addition

The Grafton City Council on July 8 approved special assessments tied to Street Improvement Districts 6-23 and 7-23 and adopted a rezoning ordinance for property in the Dakota Addition.
After a duly published public hearing on appeals to the assessments, no written appeals were filed and no one appeared in opposition. Council Member Greg Young moved to approve the special assessments as presented by the Special Assessment Commission; Brad Burianek seconded and the motion carried on a unanimous roll call vote of members present.
Later on the agenda the council heard a Planning & Zoning Commission recommendation to rezone Lots 3 and 4, Block 3, Replat of Bks 2-3-4 Replat of Dakota Addition. With no public opposition, Council placed Ordinance No. 357 on second reading and adopted it; the motion was made by Phil Ray and seconded by Brad Burianek and passed unanimously among members present.
Why it matters: Approval of special assessments confirms the financing mechanism for completed or planned street improvements in the affected districts and the rezoning will change allowable uses or development standards for the specified lots in Dakota Addition.
The council moved on to routine consent and financial items after adopting the ordinance and assessments.
