Staff demos Bellingham plan website, interactive maps and search tools for commissioners

Staff gave a live orientation to the new Bellingham plan web resources and tools on Feb. 19, showing how commissioners and the public can access the interactive PDF, map viewer, goal-and-policy search, and archived neighborhood plans.
A staff member demonstrated how to navigate the plan from the city website, use the interactive land-use map to see property-level designations, and run keyword searches across goals and supporting policies. Staff highlighted a screen-reader accessible version, a print-ready 8.5x11 layout and a searchable list of adopted-by-reference documents (bike/ped master plans, TIP, EIS and others).
Staff said the site also links to a green-infrastructure web map required under state law and to new pages summarizing recent housing and development rule updates. The online resources are intended to be a living repository that staff can update without a legislative process.
What happens next: staff will provide the same orientation to city council at its next meeting and circulate links to commissioners for ongoing review.
