Burlington electors approve annual report, grant authority, school grant spending and property sale

BURLINGTON, Conn. — Electors at the Town of Burlington’s annual town meeting on Feb. 2, 2026, voted to accept the 2024–2025 Annual Report and approved four additional items of town business, meeting moderator and First Selectman Doug Thompson said at the start of the session. Sixteen residents were recorded as present.
The meeting opened at 7:30 p.m.; the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Doug Thompson, First Selectman, was nominated and appointed moderator after Selectman Goshdigian moved the nomination and Selectman Owens seconded. Town Clerk Mary-Jane Ugalde read the call of the meeting.
On Item 1, electors approved a motion to accept the town’s 2024–25 Annual Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. The motion, moved by Selectman Boucher and seconded by Selectman Goshdigian, passed by unanimous voice vote; no comments or questions were recorded.
Item 2 authorized the First Selectman to apply for and expend any available 100% reimbursable grant proceeds that would have no impact on the general fund budget for the period Feb. 1, 2026, through Jan. 31, 2027. The motion (moved by Selectman Boucher; seconded by Selectman Owens) passed by unanimous voice vote. The meeting record states these grants are 100% reimbursable and will not affect the general fund.
On Item 3, electors approved an expenditure of $33,203 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026 to benefit the Region 10 School System under the Special Education Enhancement and Development (SEED) grant received by the town. The motion (moved by Selectman Goshdigian; seconded by Selectman Plourde) passed by unanimous voice vote. The minutes do not record a roll-call vote total.
Item 4 authorized the Board of Selectmen to negotiate and execute a sales agreement for a .07-acre property at 10 Circle Drive (Assessor Map Block Lot 10-04-60-1). The motion (moved by Selectman Boucher; seconded by Selectman Goshdigian) passed by unanimous voice vote.
A motion to adjourn, moved by Selectman Plourde and seconded by Selectman Boucher, carried and the meeting adjourned at 7:36 p.m. Town Clerk Mary-Jane Ugalde signed the minutes.
