County Assessor Kim Riggs briefed the Board of Commissioners on a notice from the Nebraska Tax Equalization and Review Commission that established valuation levels for Richardson County for tax year 2026. The commission's order sets residential class property at 95% of actual or fair market value, commercial class at 100% and agricultural and horticultural land at 70% of market value.
Riggs explained how the commission determines those percentages and noted the change from 2025 figures, when residential property had been assessed at 93%, commercial at 95% and agricultural/horticultural land at 75%. The minutes do not record further public comment or appeals during the meeting.
The assessment percentages as set by the commission will be used in local property tax calculations for tax year 2026 in Richardson County. The board took the report as informational and proceeded with other agenda items.
