Davison County Planning Commission approves plats, variance and forwards conditional use to Board of Adjustment

The Davison County Planning Commission on June 2 voted to recommend approval of several plats and a variance and forwarded a conditional use permit for further review by the Board of Adjustment.

The commission recommended approval to County Commissioners for the following plats and actions: the Jakob Storm plat (Tract 1 of Jacob's Addition) to allow a finishing barn; a variance and subdividing plat requested by Bryan and Cynthia Dixon to create Lots 1 and 2 in Lot B (variance sought for lot size and width and an access easement presented); a plat for Daniel and Constance Boehmer to enable construction of a feed shed (applicant not present); and a plat for Doug and Jen Dailey to allow a residence within the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction. Each of these items was presented by Deputy Administrator Karen Wegleitner and recommended for approval on roll-call votes.

Motions and recorded roll-call outcomes included: Chris Nebelsick moved and Lewis Bainbridge seconded to recommend approval of the Jakob Storm plat (roll-call: Haines, Thiesse, Gosmire, Bainbridge, Nebelsick, Blaalid aye; Anderson absent). Chris Nebelsick moved and Ray Gosmire seconded to recommend approval of the Dixon variance to the Board of Adjustment (same roll-call pattern: unanimous among members present). Mike Blaalid moved and Steve Thiesse seconded to recommend approval of the Dixon plat for Lots 1 and 2. Chris Nebelsick moved and Mike Blaalid seconded to recommend approval of the Boehmer plat to County Commissioners. Ray Gosmire moved and Steve Thiesse seconded to recommend approval of the Dailey plat.

All motions carried by roll-call votes with members present voting aye and Dave Anderson recorded absent. The commission also approved the May 5, 2026 minutes and adopted an amended agenda at the start of the meeting.

The commission set its next meeting for Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. and adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
