Brandy, the county’s HR Director, told the council that to participate in the state insurance benefits program council members must sign an amendment confirming active-employee status for insurance purposes. "Council members will be covered if they're considered active employees or they will not be covered under the state insurance plan if they're not considered active employees of the...county," she said.
A council member moved to remain in the state insurance program and another member seconded the motion. The chair called a voice vote; the motion passed on a voice vote with the chair stating the result as all in favor. The transcript does not record names for the mover or seconder or a roll-call tally.
HR Director Brandy also cautioned that members who currently do not participate would remain unaffected unless they affirmatively change status. No further amendments or related budgetary changes were proposed in the meeting.
The council moved on to administrative announcements and adjourned later in the session.
