Calhoun County council adopts multiple budget and fee ordinances, confirms appointment

The Calhoun County Council on third reading adopted a series of ordinances and approved routine business at its meeting. The council moved and approved Ordinances 2024-2, 2024-3, 2024-4, 2024-5, 2024-6, 2024-7 and 2024-8, all presented on third reading and called for voice votes that the chair declared carried.
The package included Ordinance 2024-2, to appropriate funds and levy taxes for operations, debt service, building fund and food service for public schools, Calhoun Technical College and the Calhoun County Disabilities and Special Needs Board; Ordinance 2024-3, providing a levy for capital improvements and debt service for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024; and Ordinance 2024-4, establishing fees to operate and maintain county water and wastewater services. The council also approved Ordinance 2024-5, setting fees for the Calhoun Hills Golf Complex; Ordinance 2024-6, levying 4.2 mills for the Sandy Run Fire District; Ordinance 2024-7, appropriating funds for the Calhoun County Rural Fire District; and Ordinance 2024-8, levying taxes for county purposes for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024.
The council approved the minutes as presented and confirmed the appointment of Brett Weaver to the Construction Board of Appeals following a nomination from Council member Richard. The council also approved a schedule of collection-site holidays for the coming fiscal year (New Year's Day, Good Friday, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day), directing those sites be closed on the listed dates.
