Lexington council approves park deed transfer, right‑of‑way and several contracts; votes at a glance

Right‑of‑way with Lexington County School District 1: Council approved final reading of an ordinance authorizing acquisition and transfer of property required for transportation improvements including widening SC Route 6, North Lake Drive, and the extension of Harmon Street and Aelia Drive; council authorized the town administrator to enter into a right‑of‑way agreement with Lexington County School District 1.
Parks rules (first reading): Council approved first reading (title only) of an ordinance establishing updated parks rules to ensure safe use of town parks (the Old Mill Trail and the dog park were noted as exceptions). Council indicated the full ordinance language will return for a later reading.
Mutual aid agreement with American Leadership Academy (SRO): Council approved a mutual aid agreement to continue School Resource Officer positions at the American Leadership Academy. Old Cherokee 378 relocation contract: Council approved a cost proposal for the utility easement relocation project on Old Cherokee Road. After re‑soliciting quotes, staff presented a revised cost of $447,245 from Williams Infrastructure; council approved the award unanimously.
Other items: Council approved first reading of an annexation for 14.24 acres on Reed Avenue (petitioned by Charles F. Thompson Jr. and Mary Al Ellen Thompson) with recommended protected residential zoning.
