Boone County board approves $724,772.94 in claims, courthouse change order and a PUD expansion

On motion by Brian Schneider, seconded by Rodney Riley, the board approved claims totaling $724,772.94 with the roll call showing all members present recorded in favor. The claims package included items submitted by the Boone County Highway Department and other county departments.
The board also approved change order number 26 for the courthouse project with Scandroli Construction, for $14,616.82. County staff said the work addressed unforeseen conditions in the building (thermostat, a plumbing vent, a lower‑level header and necessary sewer work under a states attorney storage area); some subcontractor credits are expected. Matthew Reggano moved the change order; Marian Thornberry seconded and the motion carried by roll call.
Finally, the board approved a plan unit development and special‑use expansion for an outdoor/self‑storage facility at 3100 US20. Staff and the zoning board of appeals recommended approval after reviewing site development and platting conditions; attorney Jim Hirs and engineer Nick represented the applicant. The zoning and planning commissions had previously recommended the concept plan; the board approved the concept and special use by voice vote.
No board member dissented during the recorded votes for the claims and change order items. The PUD passed by voice vote; staff will proceed with required preliminary and final platting and building permitting as part of the PUD conditions.
