Goochland EDA approves upgrade of chamber membership to $5,000 after chamber pitch

Carol Taylor, representing the Goochland Chamber of Commerce, asked the Goochland County Economic Development Authority to increase its annual chamber membership from $2,500 to the chamber's top tier of $5,000, saying the extra funds would support more chamber staff, a promotional marketing package and expanded business workshops.
"We currently have Luxstone and HCA at that level, and we really believe that you all would benefit from being at that level as well," Taylor said, listing recent activity including roughly 60 organized connection events in 2025 and “more than 100” one-on-one business conversations.
Board members questioned specific benefits and noted office-rent arrangements and overlap with chamber foundation activity. After discussion a board member moved to upgrade to the $5,000 level; a different member seconded. The motion passed 4–1. The board earlier also approved a separate $2,500 payment to the chamber for services.
The EDA did not attach additional conditions to the membership payment at the meeting; members asked staff to follow up with documentation on the chamber’s proposed promotional package and to post materials to the EDA SharePoint site.
