The Tipton City Board of Public Works on Monday approved a request to close Independence Street from Jefferson to Washington on Sept. 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a car show associated with the Pork Festival.
Mr. Heard, the applicant who presented the request, told the board the event has a new sponsor and permission to use the PBS parking lot. "We've had a request ... [a] new sponsor that would like to have a car show backed up on Independence Street there in front of the American Legion," he said.
Board member Kim moved to approve the street-closure request; the Chair seconded the motion. The board approved the closure by voice vote.
At the start of the meeting the board also approved the May 26 Board of Works minutes after a motion by Kim and a second by the Chair; that motion passed by voice vote.
