City treasurer previews year-end budget amendment; second reading may be needed

City Treasurer Debbie Montgomery presented Budget Amendment No. 2 for fiscal year 2025–26 as a routine year‑end cleanup, saying it captures grant revenues, insurance recoveries and moves small expenditures into appropriate accounts.
"This will be the cleanup for the end of the year," Montgomery told council. She said many corrections are intra-departmental and that the amendment does not materially change the fund balance aside from a temporary reduction related to savings on Third Avenue.
Montgomery said if additional adjustments are needed after June closes she would monitor accounts and, if necessary, call a quick special meeting for a second reading and public hearing before final adoption. Council agreed to place the amendment on the Tuesday agenda for first reading.
