South Heidelberg authority approves Park Road flow meter purchase, addresses pump-station outage

Conrad, P.E., told the board he received two quotes for the Park Road installation: $8,780.00 for the new flow meter and $3,957.00 from Malden for the flume, installation and calibration. On a motion by Chairman Gerhart, seconded by Kevin Eberhart, the board unanimously approved accepting both quotes and contracting WG Malden to install and calibrate the meter.
The action is intended to improve flow measurement at Park Road and support monitoring discussed later in the meeting. Mr. Conrad also raised the Borough of Sinking Spring’s strong waste surcharge and suggested installing testing boxes at a couple of locations to monitor flows and have samples tested, a step he described as a way to track potential surcharges and identify sources of strong waste.
Road crew member Mr. Lanza reported a separate operational problem: "there is no running water at West Gate pump station," and said a new water meter should be installed. He reviewed a typed municipal report and proposed a maintenance schedule for all pump stations; the minutes do not record a motion tied to the West Gate outage or a timeline for the meter replacement.
Authority Solicitor Andrew George discussed the possibility of connecting several homes along Furnace Road to public sewer. The minutes record the discussion but do not show a motion or decision on the Furnace Road connections.

Thomas Schultz moved, and Ryan Beissel seconded, to ratify payment of bills since Feb. 5, 2026 and to authorize payment of bills dated March 5 and April 2, 2026; the motion passed unanimously. Chairman Gerhart moved, and Mr. Eberhart seconded, to receive and file the Treasurer’s Report; that motion also passed unanimously.
No members of the public offered comment. Jeff Pawling moved to adjourn, seconded by Thomas Schultz; the meeting adjourned at 6:48 p.m.
