County recognizes six students with annual Youth Excellence awards

The awards mark the program’s 15th year of honoring young people for contributions in academics, community service and the performing arts. Recipients were recognized in middle- and high-school categories including leadership, volunteer or community service, and success despite difficult odds. The Oct. 15 recap did not list student names or schools.
The board’s presentation was described as part of its routine recognitions; no formal action or follow-up was announced at the meeting. The county’s communications office said video of the meeting and more information about county services are available at hcfl.gov and on the county’s YouTube channel.
