Village honors firefighters and EMTs for lifesaving response; police, fire reports reviewed

The Village of Germantown Board presented life‑saving awards to several Germantown Fire Department members for their October 14, 2025 response to a reported allergic reaction in which first responders performed high‑quality CPR and advanced cardiac life support. The department's medical director, Dr. Stephanie Post, was riding along that day and provided additional patient care. A presenter said the crew's skills and teamwork "successfully brought this patient back to life." Award recipients included Firefighter Paramedic Sean Schaefer, Firefighter Paramedic Victoria Oops (not present), Firefighter EMT Sam Schultz and Firefighter EMT Josh Lang.
Trustees also received monthly reports. The police chief reported calls were up 57 from last year and citations up 14, while crashes were down by one. Trustees asked about the near doubling of traffic stops — the chief said increased staffing allowed more enforcement — and asked staff to investigate a 700% increase in noise complaints. The fire chief said staff met with the operator of a venue that had been cited for operating without required permits; the owner is cooperating and staff are scheduling a building inspection to confirm fire‑safety compliance and establish an occupancy limit.
Chief Delane gave a preliminary update on the fire department building project and said the village had met with CG Schmidt earlier that day to draft cash‑flow options and a very preliminary budget; trustees noted the estimates are preliminary and will change as alternates and options are selected.
The board approved routine budget reallocations for insurance proceeds and grants for the police department and authorized a planned radio purchase included in the 2026 budget.
