Community development staff described the project as a prefabricated metal carport located on the north side of the existing parking lot and said it will not increase the site’s impervious area. The staff recommendation was approval of the proposed site plan.
A police department representative told the commission the carport “is going to be for police vehicles” and for designated specialty equipment including a patrol/rescue vehicle, a community outreach trailer, golf cart and side‑by‑side. Commissioners asked whether the carport was intended only for police vehicles or also for employee parking; the department representative said it will be primarily for police vehicles and special‑purpose vehicles.
After brief discussion the chair called for a motion to approve the site plan and the commission adopted the motion; the roll call indicated the motion carried.
Next steps: the approved site plan will proceed with the city’s permit process and the applicant — the City of Sebastian — will coordinate final construction scheduling with staff.
