Ogemaw County commissioners approved a three-year licensing agreement for the county's phone system on June 8 to lock in pricing ahead of an announced vendor increase.
Tom, who presented the item, told commissioners that vendor pricing will rise up to 25% on June 6 and that a three-year contract offered modest savings compared with annual renewals. Tom said the three-year cost was $23,625 and the county's network software and hardware budget had room to cover the licensing; he said the $80,000 line item had only seen about $5,000 spent to date.
Commissioners discussed the urgency of approving the licensing that night to avoid a larger increase if the contract were delayed. Commissioner Serbrook moved to approve the resolution; the board approved it by roll call.
Tom said additional support work for routers and the phone server would be brought back for approval at a subsequent meeting.
