County health staff report PRIA policy rollout and cross-agency training ahead of audit

Ruth, a county health/DHS staffer, told the public safety committee that the majority of PRIA (policy and training related to inmate sexual abuse prevention and response) policies have been distributed for the jail and that initial trainings with DHS clinical staff and public health took place this week.
Ruth said county staff will now schedule trainings for EMS, the medical examiner and detective staff and will centralize documentation so the county is prepared for its first audit of compliance requirements. She said detectives will receive a focused training module so the county can document that detectives have received specialized instruction related to these policies.
Committee members praised the organization work by Ruth and Zoe and noted another county had asked Waushara County for assistance implementing similar policies. Ruth said the rollout is progressing and that centralizing records will support the upcoming audit.
