The Menlo Park Housing Commission on June 3 established two ad hoc committees — a Housing Development Ad Hoc Committee and an Anti‑Displacement Ad Hoc Committee — adopted purpose statements for each and provisionally selected commissioners to serve on them.
Management Analyst Arianna Milton described the committees as non‑forum (non‑Brown Act) bodies intended to advance two work plan goals: exploring housing development opportunities and reviewing anti‑displacement policies and programs. "An ad hoc committee could further progress on current annual work plan goals related to housing development and displacement," Milton said.
Commissioners discussed committee membership and agreed the Housing Development Ad Hoc Committee would include Commissioners Bealy, Osler and Chapa, and the Anti‑Displacement Ad Hoc Committee would include Commissioner Dumont (who submitted an email expressing interest) and Commissioner Chapa. Commissioners moved and voted 4‑0 to establish the committees and adopt the purpose statements. Staff noted ad hoc committees do not require a quorum and can meet without Brown Act agenda posting requirements.
Staff will follow up to confirm membership with absent commissioners and to post purpose statements and schedules as appropriate.
