Mayor says Blackwell Dairy Road Bridge near completion; council introduces waste plan and accepts subdivision performance bonds

He described the presentation as an introduction only and said staff will collect council comments, forward the draft to ADM for review, and schedule a public hearing before formal adoption.
City attorney Russ Robertson told the council he had reviewed a performance bond for the Liberty Place subdivision and recommended the council accept the bond. The council voted to adopt the resolution. The council also adopted a second, similar bond resolution; the transcript records the second bond amount as $71,445.
In mayoral announcements, the mayor reported that framing on the Blackwell Dairy Road Bridge was nearly finished and that asphalt remains to be placed; he said, weather permitting, completion should be only days away. He recognized Brent Baker, a recent Alabama Fire College graduate with the Jasper Fire Department, and urged residents to attend a community forum on the results of the ongoing community survey on Thursday, June 4 at 5:30 p.m. at city hall.
