Handbook: The committee approved the high-school handbook after a second reading; the changes were limited to an updated mission/vision statement and did not alter substantive student-policy provisions.
Enrollment and transportation: Following input from CPAC and committee discussion, the administration presented revised procedures for enrollment and transportation that include use of centralized bus stops when appropriate, a rationale for ‘‘reasonable distance’’ to stops and continued use of bus‑pass options when capacity and routing permit. The committee approved the enrollment policy (JC), its implementing procedure (JC‑R), and the transportation policy and procedures, while also authorizing the administration to make future minor revisions to procedures as needed.
Calibrant amendment (solar/battery): The district approved a first amendment to the electric service agreement with Calibrant (the battery-storage operator at the high school) designed to preserve district benefit while allowing solar-expansion work. The amendment includes a mechanism to cover Calibrant’s lost production revenue (a maximum of $11,000 per year under the amendment), enabling the district to add solar capacity while maintaining the battery‑operator’s revenue assumptions.
Committee members sought clarification on where students might be required to walk to centralized stops, asking administration to specify what “reasonable distance” will mean locally and to ensure safe walking routes. Administration said central stops are often within about a quarter mile in practice but noted safety and built environment are considered when setting stops.
Votes: Motions to approve the handbook, the enrollment and transportation policies/procedures, and the Calibrant amendment carried in open session.
Next steps: Administration will finalize procedure language as needed, confirm stop-placement standards and publish guidance for families, and execute the Calibrant amendment once signed by the chair.
