Architectural approval granted for Romeo Toyota service-department expansion on Broad Street

The Glens Falls Planning and Architectural Review Board granted architectural approval June 3 for AR26-003, an expansion of the service department at Romeo Toyota, 163 Broad Street.
Eric Slo of SR Engineers told the board the small addition extends two bays to the right of the existing facade and keeps materials and glazing consistent with the current dealership. The project received a zoning variance for lot-coverage and the design team said the addition meets setback requirements. Slo said storm water on the site currently infiltrates and that a city-owned storm pipe crossing the lot will need relocation; the team said it is coordinating with city staff on that work.
Trevor Flynn, the project architect, showed proposed elevations and said the design generally continues the existing facade and lighting. Public attendees asked about parking (six spaces will be removed) and the visual impact of added service bays; the design team said the site will continue to meet parking requirements and that lighting fixtures will match existing building fixtures and be specified to limit off-site glare.
A board member moved to grant architectural approval for AR26-003 as presented; the motion passed.
The design team and city planners will continue coordination to resolve the storm-pipe relocation and finalize lighting specifications to meet city standards.
