Superintendent Fulmore highlights student AI delegates, assistive-technology lending library and student-safety work

Superintendent Dr. Fatima Fulmore used her June 4 remarks to highlight student recognition, new district resources for students with disabilities and ongoing student-safety work.
Dr. Fulmore announced that two NOLA Public Schools students will serve as Louisiana delegates to the America's Youth AI Festival at MIT July 17–19. She presented certificates and invited the students and staff forward for a photo.
She also shared a district video about a student, King, who gained communication tools through the new NOLA Public Schools Educational Service Agency (ESA) assistive-technology lending library. The ESA pilot provides iPads, switches and sensory tools that schools can check out; staff and the student's speech-language pathologist described reduced frustration and increased participation after students received devices.
On student safety, Dr. Fulmore summarized work under policy HH, noting district efforts to require panic notification systems, anonymous reporting, and a refreshed student-safety toolkit updated in March to include gun-safety, safe firearm storage guidance, panic buttons, crisis response and youth suicide prevention resources. She also summarized convenings addressing chronic absenteeism and previewed a staff listening initiative derived from a TNTP organizational assessment to inform professional development.
Dr. Fulmore closed by reminding the community that hurricane season began June 1 and by congratulating Travis Hill graduates and staff recognized for years of service.
