The board noted the appointment is a volunteer role and that prior advisers had included Dr. Livingston.
A motion to appoint Dr. Merwin was moved and seconded and approved by a unanimous voice vote recorded as 5-0.
The district said it will continue to consult the medical adviser as needed for procedural reviews and to support school health services.
