Scurry County commissioners set Zavala Road hearing, OK EMS travel and approve equipment purchases and $1.62M in payables

The Scurry County Commissioner Court used its meeting to approve a set of routine county business items, including scheduling a public hearing for Zavala Road, authorizing out-of-state education travel for the EMS director, approving two line-item transfers and a budget amendment, and approving accounts payable totaling $1,621,133.91.

A commissioner moved and the court voted to set a public hearing on adding Zavala Road to the county road map for July 7. The court also voted to allow the Scurry County EMS director to attend an out-of-state rural health education conference; the authorization was described as a standard procedural approval to enable required training.

On budget matters, the court certified $688.66 in revenue from Snyder Iron and Metal for Road & Bridge Precinct 1 (proceeds from sale of salvage metal) and directed that amount be placed into an equipment line via a budget amendment. Separately, the court approved two line-item transfers: a precinct equipment transfer involving $5,000 (with $8,000 moved out of road material to fund a new rock-collection attachment) and a $400 transfer within the health unit for tires from education and training funds. A staff member described the rock bucket as a hydraulic attachment that separates and recovers rock left after seal coating, which the county said helps clean material from shoulders and yards.

Commissioners moved and approved the transfers and budget amendment, and later approved accounts payable in the amount of $1,621,133.91. The court noted there would be no executive session at this meeting.
