Parent alleges assault inside Taylor High School hallway; requests review of video and raises concerns about staff response and a district ban

A parent addressed the board during the June 3 meeting to report a serious safety concern at Taylor High School and to request a formal review.

Douglas Porter told the board that his daughter was "viciously attacked in a classroom, dragged out by her hair" and that the assault continued in a hallway while multiple students watched. He said the teacher and other staff did not intervene quickly, that two students were suspended for three days, and that when he reported the incident he was later restricted from district property.

Porter said he has video of the incident and asked the district to review the footage and respond. "It was a vicious beating by two females with no security," he told trustees during public comment and asked for an explanation of school response and the basis for the district's ban on his attendance at events.

District leaders acknowledged the complaint and asked Porter to share the video and contact information so staff could follow up. Superintendent Wagger said the district would need time to review and suggested scheduling a meeting to attempt resolution, noting that some steps (including a formal appeal if a ban is in place) may take several weeks to process.

Board counsel and staff also noted that actions related to personnel or student discipline are subject to applicable privacy rules; the administration asked Porter to provide the evidence directly to district staff and promised to follow up with next steps toward resolution.
