The commission directed staff to finalize the resolution language, advertise appointments, and begin recruitment after the current budget cycle, with appointments anticipated in the fall to align with the fiscal-year timetable. Commissioners emphasized diversity of expertise and noted the committee would be advisory, making recommendations to the commission.
Mayor and commissioners said the objective is to provide an independent, expert review to help improve budget transparency, review contracts and technology gaps, and provide recommendations on fiscal policy and potential audits. Staff will return with the amended resolution and an implementation schedule for public application and selection.
