Board approves truancy program and facilities contract, confirms committee resolutions and routine rentals

At its June 2 meeting the Groveport Madison Board approved several consent and routine items, including a county truancy‑intervention contract, an annual facilities/camera maintenance contract, and a mailing‑equipment rental agreement; the board also approved a resolution establishing application processes and alternate board representation for parent and student voice committees.

Truancy intervention: Representatives from Franklin County’s TIP program described the diversion model created after House Bill 410, citing triggers (30 consecutive hours, 42 hours in a month, 72 hours in a school year) that prompt specialist intervention and a 90‑day improvement window. Destiny Jones, TIP truancy supervisor, said Growport Madison had the highest habitual‑truancy caseload among districts the program serves and reported the program served about 600 students this year; filings dropped from 63 to 37 compared with the prior year, a sign officials said of increased early intervention activity. The board approved the contract on roll call.

Facilities and security software: The board approved a roughly $54,898 annual contract with EPS for building fire/alarm monitoring, access control and camera software licensing and maintenance; staff clarified the vendor supplies software licensing and server maintenance but does not remotely monitor cameras.

Committee resolution and alternates: The board adopted a resolution authorizing the use of applications/questionnaires for Parent Voice and Student Voice committees and appointed alternate board representatives to ensure consistent participation when appointed representatives cannot attend. The board debated whether the superintendent or the board should implement procedures; an amendment to change the designated authority failed and the original resolution passed (one abstention recorded). The board then approved appointments of alternates for elementary, middle and high‑school committees by roll call.

Pitney Bowes: The board approved the routine Pitney Bowes rental agreement for postage equipment.
