Main Street of Fremont reported economic activity and downtown reinvestment to the council on Jan. 27.
Laney Pquette, executive director, said the organization measured total reinvestment at $391,062 by combining façade/building improvement costs, volunteer-hours valuation ($34.79/hour), grants and public-improvement projects. She reported five new businesses opened during the year that brought 17 new jobs to the district, and that four façade improvements were funded in part by CDBG grants. Pquette described events (concerts in the park, gallery walks, Color the Core) and a new Main Street Mingles program to support entrepreneurs with resources and peer networking.
Council members praised the downtown activity and asked whether reinvestment numbers included private match; Pquette replied the total does include both grant funding and private match. The council moved to receive the annual report.
Ending: Council received the Main Street annual report; staff and council welcomed continued downtown investment.
