District hears phase-two construction update as turf complex nears completion

Turner Construction and Young Wright Architectural presented a summer preview of the district's phase-two capital project, saying the work is roughly two-thirds complete and planning a closeout by the end of the year for phase two.
A Turner Construction representative told the board the work includes secure main entrances at Windmir, Smallwood and the middle school; a five-classroom addition and UPK loop at Windmir; IT and public-address system upgrades; and a steam-to-hot-water conversion at the middle school. The presenter said masonry and moisture repairs around the high school auditorium were added to this phase after they were discovered.
The presenters also reported progress at the turf complex: multiple fields have been installed, scoreboards and power infrastructure are in place, and remaining items include final turf installation, asphalt walking paths, the concession stand fit-out and perimeter fencing work. "We're about two-thirds of the way through," one presenter said, and the team is coordinating schedules to close out work this summer and into fall.
On scheduling, the presenters told board members some games might be possible before the end of the calendar year but the district's official timeline for full turnover is "spring of '27," contingent on final punch-list work and material availability. Board members and staff discussed alternate field-use plans with coaches to accommodate the fall season if portions of the complex are ready earlier.
The district plans building walkthroughs for board members before school resumes in September to preview completed work. The presentation covered expected summer activities including installation of parking-lot lighting and cameras, classroom casework, playground mobilization, auditorium rigging and HVAC equipment installation.
