The board also reviewed Policy 1900 (parent/guardian/family engagement), Policy 6240 (investments) — noting the committee added language requiring board authorization for the board president or a designate — and Policy 6700 and its regulation on purchasing. No substantive substantive changes to purchasing were proposed at this meeting.
During staff reports, Tim (staff member) described district math pathways, including an option that compresses three years of high‑school geometry/algebra/pre‑calculus into two years so students who are ready later in high school can still access calculus in senior year. Tim also previewed a multi‑year curriculum rollout: a pilot or adoption of a new elementary literacy curriculum described in the meeting as "Arts and Letters," a planned rollout of an elementary science curriculum called "Mystery Science," updates to MTSS (multi‑tiered systems of support), and a Bobcat Ready kindergarten transition newsletter project.
Tim said the district will publish details and materials on the curriculum and department websites and hold a principal coffee on June 17 to explain the literacy rollout. Board members asked clarifying questions about investments and purchasing procedures; committee members said purchases of treasury bills or the creation of new accounts would require board authorization under the updated language.
The board moved the listed policies as a first reading and agreed to the annual reviews required by regulation; motions were made and accepted without a roll‑call tally recorded in the public transcript.
