During the public-comment period at the June 4 Davidson County commission meeting, resident Jackie Taylor described a confrontation at the Southmont Nutrition Program that she said left her demeaned and fearful.
Taylor told commissioners she entered the lunch site and saw another participant pointing what appeared to be guns (later found to be toys). She said she picked up the toy guns to secure the scene and asked staff to intervene; she said staff instead encouraged the other participant and later insisted Taylor was a thief. She described being taken to her home and searched, and she said a detective advised her to obtain copies of the 911 call record to clear her name. Taylor asked the board to remove Tisha Everheart Roberts from the Providence Transportation advisory board, to require an apology and to review staff conduct at nutrition sites.
Chair thanked Taylor for her comments and said the board had received the material she submitted. No formal action or board vote on Taylor's request was recorded during the meeting; commissioners acknowledged the complaint and moved to the next agenda item.
