The Guilford County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on June 4 to accept a property interest from the City of High Point in a former animal-shelter site at 4525 West Wendover Avenue. County staff described the action as a step to enable further study of the property's potential for public or permanent supportive housing.
County staff presented the item and explained that accepting the interest does not itself authorize construction or final disposition; rather, it preserves the county's ability to pursue options including supportive housing in coordination with High Point and Greensboro. Commissioners moved, seconded and carried the action on a recorded unanimous vote.
What happens next: Staff will continue interjurisdictional coordination and feasibility work on repurposing options for the site; the acceptance creates a procedural pathway for future steps but does not itself allocate construction funding.
