West Islip board approves tenures and routine finance and contract items

The West Islip Union Free School District Board of Education on June 8 approved tenure and personnel actions, routine financial items and several consultant contracts during its final regularly scheduled meeting for the 2025–26 school year.
Administrators Jim Cameron and Lauren Le were recommended for tenure by the superintendent and approved by the board. The board also read and approved tenure recommendations for numerous teachers and one teaching assistant; the administration introduced each honoree before a single voice vote to approve the slate. Superintendent Dr. Romanelli congratulated those receiving tenure, saying the appointments reflect “the positive impact that those staff members have had on the district.”
On financial business the board approved budget transfers (identified in the agenda as 4624–4628), accepted several donations and approved contracts and multi-year service agreements including a district copier agreement. The board also approved a resolution exempting the district from implementing a school breakfast program for 2026–27, noting low projected uptake but confirming breakfast card availability at elementary schools.
Motions were carried by voice vote with no recorded roll-call tallies provided in the minutes; the meeting record shows routine approval language (“All in favor? All opposed? Motion approved.”). The board additionally approved several consultant service agreements listed on the agenda for the coming school year.
