Architects from Klein Sweeney and pre-construction representatives from American Constructors presented updated cost estimates and a construction schedule that would begin demolition in late August and include an optional third floor as an alternate. Jacob Davis of Klein Sweeney said revised FF&E pricing and subcontractor feedback reduced some line items and that current planning includes demolition, construction documents and contingency for unknown conditions behind existing walls.
Why it matters: committee materials showed roughly $9.5 million already allocated for the project and another $3.3 million available from prior projects, so staff said roughly $12.8 million is set aside; the remainder would be funded from internal county reserves without new borrowing under staff’s stated plan.
