Prichard council approves health-insurance contract, schedules meetings and tables annexation

Other actions taken by the council included:
- Approving permission for District One Volunteers Unity Group to use the Oia Edwards Multicultural Museum for a June 16 meeting and to provide lunch; the motion carried.
- Referring an older Accident Review Board resolution to the Public Works & Public Safety Committee for amendment and updated reporting procedures after recent vehicle accidents and reporting gaps were discussed.
- Approving corrected minutes for the May 21 and May 28, 2026 meetings after clerical corrections were identified.
- Rescheduling the July 2 council meeting to June 30 at noon due to holiday travel; the motion carried.
- Tablng (tabling) a proposed ordinance to annex property after council members said the owner requested the item be removed until additional discussion with the mayor; the item will be returned to a future agenda with the legal description included.
Most motions were approved by voice vote after a mover and second; in each instance council members recorded “yes” for passage on the record or the clerk announced that the motion carried. No final contract documents or fiscal totals for the health-insurance agreement were presented during the meeting; council indicated the mayor would sign the contract as authorized by the resolution.
The meeting included several public comments about parks maintenance, drainage, standing water, and road repairs; council asked staff to follow up on 311 requests and scheduled committee follow-up as noted.
