Council approves fiscal plan and adopts annexation ordinance for Double E Farms

Separately, Mr. Morgan introduced Ordinance 6 to move the town to even-year elections to reduce election costs and potentially increase turnout. He said the town paid just over $18,000 for a primary in 2023 and could face roughly $36,000 for an off-year election with both primary and general components. Ordinance 6 would require transitional one-year terms for three council seats next year and a three-year term for the clerk-treasurer before returning to four-year cycles. Ordinance 6 was introduced and remains under discussion.
