Board receives Perris Union High 2026–27 LCAP for first reading after presentation on attendance and expanded programs

"Tonight is a public hearing on the 2026-27 local control and accountability plan," Chavez said, explaining that the plan links district goals, actions and investments to students who generate supplemental and concentration funding. She said nearly three of every four Perris Union students are counted as unduplicated pupils and that the district '019s attendance recovery work drove increased LCFF funding.
Chavez described key investments in the 26 27 LCAP: a multi-tiered attendance recovery system and instructional coaching; expanded career technical education pathways and dual-enrollment pilots; bilingual paraeducators at every site to support English learners; and a learning-recovery emergency block-grant (LREBG) pilot for Apple NEO devices and alternatives to suspension. She tied those actions to measurable outcomes the district reported this year, including drops in chronic absenteeism across multiple subgroups and higher-funded average daily attendance figures.
Board members questioned details about which sites would receive new staff and how personnel costs are allocated. Trustee Hall asked for a clearer site-level breakdown of how large budget totals translate into staff and programs. Chavez said a detailed binder and an 11-page summary with disaggregated data were available to trustees and that staff would provide additional spreadsheets on request.
After public comment and trustee discussion, Trustee Hall moved and Trustee Annayia seconded a motion to receive the 2026 27 LCAP for review and consideration as part of its first reading. The motion passed unanimously, 5-0.
The public hearing was closed and the LCAP will return to the board for subsequent action after the review period.
