This resolution has nothing to do with the contents of the report itself or the recommendations."
Council President Lee reviewed the commission's work and the report's scope, saying the commission produced a 138‑page final report documenting the history of racial discrimination in South Bend and offering possible remedies through subcommittees focused on employment, economic opportunity, the wealth gap, housing, education, health and mental health. "We want to have them be able to come and present to the council," Lee said, and the resolution invites that formal presentation under the Common Council agenda on June 8.
Council member McBride and others expressed gratitude for the commission's work and said they look forward to the presentation. The public‑hearing period for the resolution produced no public testimony. A committee member moved to forward Bill 26‑15 with a favorable recommendation; the roll call recorded affirmative votes and the bill will be placed on the Common Council agenda for June 8, 2026.
